Harvey Darrell Alsman, 85, of San Angelo went to his eternal home on Thursday August 24, 2017. Darrell was born on October 16, 1931 to Harvey and Emma (Beeman) Alsman in Barnhart, TX. He graduated from Lake View High School, attended San Angelo College, and was a veteran of the Texas Army National Guard. Harvey was the co-founder and former co-owner of City Cabinet Shop in San Angelo. He was a master cabinet builder having worked at the cabinet shop for over 30 years. After retirement, he and Barbara enjoyed living in their country home surrounded by God's nature and peace. He and his wife, Barbara, were called to serve God as house parents at Rio Grande Children's Home, South Texas Children's Home, Buckner's Children's Home, and West Texas Boy's Ranch, investing their lives in the lives of over 35 children. His greatest honor to God was raising his children, Tony and Brenda. He served the Lord as a deacon, and he and Barbara were faithfully active in many area churches. His humility, sense of humor, and gentle nature were his hallmark gifts to his family, friends, and community. He loved ranching, fishing, hunting arrowheads, camping, and travel. Some of the most memorable family adventures were frequent trips to Corpus Christi and Garner State Park; road trips to Fun Valley, Colorado, to Grouse Mountain, Canada through Yellowstone National Park, and an Alaskan cruise in his later years. Darrell dearly loved and always remembered living in Corpus Christi as a child. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Barbara and sister, Doris. Harvey is survived by son, Tony Alsman of Lake Buchanan; daughter, Brenda (Jon) Marvel of Miles; sister, Ava (Max) Havlik of San Angelo; grandchildren, Cindy (Matt) Rodgers of Dallas, Clayton Garrett (Jillian) Waggoner of League City; great grandson, Garrett Lee Rodgers of Dallas; nephews, James Englert of Dallas, and David (Donna) Englert of Round Rock; aunt, Sally Allen of Fresno, California; step-family Jennifer (Ed) Ancu and their children, Evan, Elise, and Emma of La Canada, California, and is blessed with a large extended family and many dear friends.
