Holly Smith Huckabee, aged 50, died in the Hot air balloon accident on July 30, 2016 just outside of Lockhart, TX in Caldwell County. Holly was born on December 20, 1965, in Kermit, TX, and was raised in Jal, New Mexico, the daughter of Robert S. Smith and Scharlotta L. Smith. Holly is survived by her father, Robert S. Smith of San Angelo; sister, Tammy S. Modgling and brother in law, James D. Modgling of Sonora; daughter, Leslie J. Smith and son in law Cory A. Smith of Katy; Son, Bradley T. Huckabee of College Station; grandchildren Max and Aiden; and a number Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and close friends. Holly worked for John K. Grubb and Associates for over 10 years. He described her as having a calm demeanor, kindness, with determination, and a ready smile. She was very close to her Associates. Holly's life was sustained by her family, her Christian faith, and her professional career. Holly was a founding member of the River United Methodist Church in Katy. Those who knew Holly closely knew that she was a deeply religious person with tremendous faith. Holly had a Bachelor's of Science in Paralegal studies, Kaplan University, A.A.S., Eastern New Mexico University, legal assistant program, Midland College. She was a Board Certified Paralegal, in Family Law, by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She was a Director of the Paralegal Division State Bar of Texas. Though Holly has now left us, she leaves us with her warm smile and memories that will last us the rest of our lives. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
