IDA B. "IKE" HERODE

Ida B. "Ike" Herode, 72, of San Angelo, passed away Monday, September 20, 2004 at her residence. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Thursday, September 23, 2004 at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 24, 2004 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Rev. Mike Dorman of the Veribest Baptist Church officiating. Ida was born in Menard, May 14, 1932 to Andrew and Ruby Simmons. She married her loving husband, of 39 years, Howard Herode on April 23, 1963, in Odessa, TX. Ida was a full time housewife. She loved fishing, western movies, novels and country music, but most of all she loved her family and friends. Ida was a great mother to not only her children, but also her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her loving companion, Sissy. Ida will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Howard; one brother Wade Simmons; one sister, Omie Tubbs; one grandson Paul Stewart; one sister-in-law, Fredia Simmons; one brother-in-law, Clifford (BoBo) Kennedy. Survivors are: Three sons:Darrel Herode and wife, Carla Of San Angelo Paul Herode and wife, Kim Of West Chester, Ohio Chris Stewart and wife, Pam Of San Angelo Daughter:Joyce Webb and husband, Sherman Of West Chester, Ohio Four brothers: James Simmons and wife, June Of Harriett Willie Simmons of San Angelo Raymond Simmons of San Angelo Dennis Simmons and wife, Pat Of Brady Three sisters: Gene Kennedy of San Angelo Hazel Harkey and husband, Earl Of San AngeloLois McKinney and husband, Lewis Of Brady Three: Sisters-in-law Sixteen:Grandchildren Sixteen:Great-grandchildren Several:Nieces and nephews Numerous friends in Kentucky and Texas Pallbearers include grandsons: Stephen Webb, Dan Flynn, Wes Herode, and nephews: Andy Simmons, Michael McKinney, Stephen McKinney and Jeff Simmons. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks for all the thoughts and prayers received during Ida's illness. Special thanks goes to Dr. Barnett, Hospice of San Angelo, her loving brothers, sisters and devoted niece, Delores Kennedy, who share her last loving moments.
