Ima L. Carroll, 89, of San Angelo went to be the Lord on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at her residence. Ima was born on August 1, 1921 to David and Suzie Layne in Blackwell, Texas. She married John Carroll on May 21, 1948 in San Angelo and they shared 58 years of marriage until his journey to heaven on September 25, 1998. She retired as a civil service employee from Goodfellow Air Force Base after 33 ½ years. In her early years she made and sold ceramics and attended arts and crafts festivals all year round. She was well known by all her neighbors for always working in her yard and decorating for all the holidays. She also had a very strong passion for cats and cared for them as her babies. She touched many people in her life. She was a very wise and knowledgeable woman who loved talking about all the historical events in her life span. A rosary will be held at 7:00pm Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at St Mary'™s Catholic Church with Father David Herrera officiating. Burial will follow at Belvedere Memorial Park. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. She was preceded in death by her husband John Carroll, her parents, and all her siblings. Survivors include her son, Art Arteaga of San Angelo, daughter in law, Maria Arteaga of San Antonio. Grandchildren Jacqueline and husband Victor Marin of San Angelo; Art Arteaga of San Angelo and Preston Arteaga of San Antonio. Great grandchildren Laryssa Arteaga, Landan and Landry Marin all of San Angelo. She also had numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Art Arteaga, Preston Arteaga, Victor Marin, P.V. Soto, Raymond Torres and Paul Soto. The family would like to thank Vista Care Hospice, especially Virginia Dooley, for all their accommodations as well as her caretaker Julia Cruz.
