JACK WAYNE JOYCE

Jack Wayne Joyce, 83, of Big Lake passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at an area nursing home. Services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday September 16, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Big Lake with the Rev. J. B. Bitner, Jr., and Rev. Chris Powell, officiating. Burial will follow at Glenrest Cemetery. Jack was born July 31, 1925 in Tankersley, TX., to George Lester and Lola Edwards Joyce. He was a serviceman for West Texas Utilities for most of his life. He married Billye Jean Mayfield in San Angelo on October 14, 1945 and they enjoyed 62 years of wedded bliss. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Big Lake. Jack is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; Harold Dean Joyce, Elton Joyce and Weldon Joyce. He is survived by his wife, Billye Jean Joyce, two sons; Larry Joyce and Hal Joyce and wife, Vicki, all of Big Lake and two sisters; Roma Roberts of Ft. Worth and Madge Hargrove of Amarillo. Grandchildren are Melissa Wood and husband, Kelly of Midland; Jack Alan Joyce and wife, Christy of Big Lake; Laura Kohutek and husband, Jeremy of Dallas and Amy Joyce of Marble Falls. Great-Grandchildren are Haley Wood and Reagan Wood of Midland and Sage Powell of Big Lake, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jack Alan Joyce, Kelly Wood, Jeremy Kohutek, Duane Mitchell, James Marrow and Jonathan Murrey. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Warriner, Ray Ivey and D.D. Poyner, Jr. Memorial donations in Jack's name may be made to Hospice of San Angelo at 36 E. Twohig Suite 1100 San Angelo, Texas 76903 or to a favorite charity.
