Jackie Gilbert

Jackie Dell Gilbert, 85, of San Angelo passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

Viewing will be from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Bronte Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gilbert was born on December 29, 1938 in Robert Lee to Lonnie and Fannie Mae Stevenson Grimes. She graduated from Bronte High School in 1958 and was named Miss Bronte. Jackie married Donald Gilbert on May 28, 1960. He preceded her in death on December 20, 2000. She worked as a beautician until it was time to be a homemaker and raise her children. After raising her children she went to work at San Angelo State School as th Recreation Supervisor. She retired after working 25 years and 7 months. Jackie enjoyed traveling to the hill country, looking for bluebonnets, doing ceramics and hand arts. Jackie could be seen in the stands watching her grandchildren play football. People say she was an outgoing, sweet lady who loved the Lord. She was a memeber of Business Men's and Women's Bible Class.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Donald Alonzo Gilbert; and a sister Mary Thomas.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Brenda Gilbert and husband Randy Young of Grape Creek and Reba Dianna Gilbert of San Angelo; a brother, Johnny Grimes and wife Linda of Grape Creek; five grandchildren, Katie, Casey, Aubrey, Gerogiann, and Dylan; 6 great grandchildren, Ava, Evan, Tatum, Jakob, Kristen, and DJ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
