Jane Mildred Hatch Burnett, 74 of San Angelo died Friday December 26, 2008 at her residence. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Monday December 29, 2008 at Eola Cemetery with Rev. Charles Hutchings and Hospice Chaplain Penny Chilton, officiating. Jane was born November 25, 1934 in Putnam Connecticut to parents, John Charles and Ruth Elizabeth Law Hatch. Her first bed was a dresser drawer. She was especially close to her Aunt Faith who was born in June of 1935. Jane lived with her mother until she went to live with her Granny in Rhode Island when she was 12 years old. With her son, Kevin, Jane moved to Texas and met her husband, Charles Delbert Burnett. They were married on September 3, 1955 when Jane was just 17 years old. She and Charles bought some land and worked it together. Jane became a Christian with Charles's mother and promised to serve God if she could raise her son. Jane was a nurse for 25 years at Shannon Hospital and Carlsbad State School. Jane suffered and injury and had to give up being a nurse. Jane sang a lot and she was so good that she got to sing a solo on the Lonny Ross show in New York. Jane was a procrastinator and a bit of a pack rat. After her nursing career, she worked for Chris Coker at Texas Star Insurance Agency for six years; she worked up until May of 2006, then had heart surgery and moved to Plaza Del Sol. Charles passed away on August 17, 1998 of cancer and is buried with his family in Eola, where Jane's plot and headstone is already waiting for her to join him. She is also preceded in death by her infant son; Charles Delbert "Chucky" Burnett and her infant great-grandson, Leland James Deaton and her mother, Ruth Elizabeth Hatch. Jane wants to be remembered for asking people: "Did you pray today?" and of her faith and love for Jesus, love for the church and that people see the light that shines through her. Jane loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite memories are of watching them play and pray. She is survived by her son; Kevin Burnett and his wife, Mary Jo of Altus, OK; her daughters; Ginny Shuster and her husband, Robert "Freddie" of San Angelo, Rosie Goff and her husband, Kenneth of Sulphur OK., and Mary Jane Hutchings and Jackie Shaw of Manor, TX.
