Lifetime San Angelo resident Jane Drake, 83, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Jane Drake was born in San Angelo, Texas on October 31, 1932. She was the daughter of C.E. "Red" and Bernice Covington. Jane was passionate in her faith in Jesus Christ and she never met a stranger. Jane was a San Angelo realtor for over thirty years and a pillar of this community. An avid tennis player and longtime USTA member, Jane had the reputation of giving all opponents quite the challenging match. In her younger years, Jane loved riding horses and being at the ranch in Kent, Texas with the love of her life, Spikey. Jane enjoyed playing bridge, dominoes, washers and golf. She was passionate about reading books and liked to go to the movies. But most of all Jane loved to socialize with friends and family. The 2700 block of Harvard and University avenues, where she shared an alley with her sister, Ann, was notorious for spontaneous and always entertaining get-togethers. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, C.K. "Spikey" Drake; daughter, Diana Drake; parents, C.E. "Red" and Bernice Covington; sister, Ann Covington Henderson; and brother, Ted Covington. Jane is survived by her son, King Drake and wife Evelyn; daughter, Star Stovall and husband Phillip; and daughter, Regina Wortham, all of San Angelo; nephew, Craig Henderson and wife Jan of San Angelo; Brother-in-law, Russell Drake of Yucca Valley, CA; sister-in-law, Sandy Covington of San Angelo; grandchildren, Nicole Drake Jones and husband Tony of Henderson, TX; Reid Hall and wife Molly of Lubbock; April Drake of San Angelo; Amy Drake and spouse Brad Roberts of San Angelo; Curtis Wortham and spouse Krista Horton of San Antonio; eleven great-grandchildren: David, Colson, Trace, Tony Jr, Trinity, Kingsley, Scarlett, Melody, Camryn, Park and Harland; and her lifelong best friend Joanne "Shorty" Martin. A memorial service will be held at 12:30pm on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church, 2506 Johnson St. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Presbyterian Church or Gentiva Hospice with special thanks to Angela and Veronica for their care and compassion. At Jane's request, a party will be held in her honor at 6pm on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Fort Concho Stables, 630 S.
