Japson Pettit, 86, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2006 in Big Lake, TX. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, January 24th at 2:00pm at the First United Methodist Church in Big Lake with Rev. Tim Fahrenthold officiating. Burial will follow at the Stiles Cemetery. Japson was born June 30, 1919 in Stiles, TX to the late Ben and Maude Japson Pettit. On November 18, 1938, he married Dorothy McWilliams in San Angelo Japson was born, raised and ranched at Stiles all of his life. He belonged to the Rodeo Club where he roped in his younger days. He was also a member of the Cowboy Turtle Association. Japson belonged to the Big Lake Masonic Lodge and was very active in the Big Lake Chapter of The Order of the Eastern Star. In 2000, Japson and his wife, Dorothy, received the "Lifetime Booster Club Award" for their support of Reagan County athletics. Japson also served as Reagan County Commissioner for 12 Years. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Dorothy; daughters, Dorthetta Ernest and Husband, Henry, Margret Young and husband, Ben; sons, Billy Wayne Pettit and wife, Cathy, Roy Ben Pettit and wife, Denna; Grandchildren, Robert Ernest, Mason Ernest, Margret Ernest Romano, James Ernest, Lynn Young Delano, Melanie Young Russell, Theresa Pettit Huckabee, Michele Pettit Long, Rachel Pettit Sissney, Ashley Pettit Lewis, Shawn Pettit; along with 22 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Mike Schwertner, Mike Ratliff, Sammy Dodd, Mike Elkins, Sam Chumley and Jody Franks. Honorary Pallbearers will be J.D. Poage, Lester Ratliff, Siler Williams, John Daugherty, Bill Schneemann and R.L. McKinney
