Jess C. Dalton, 86, of San Angelo, Texas passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the VA Medical Center in Big Spring. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Robert Massie Funeral Home with Chaplain Mike Andress officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Jess was born in Mangum, Oklahoma to Jess C. Dalton and Ruth Marie Webb on August 18, 1923. He married Ruth May Dalton on December 4, 1941 in the home of the bride's parents in Anton, Texas. He worked as a mechanic in Muleshoe, Texas for Fry and Cox Brothers and after relocating to San Angelo in 1967, he was a mechanic and truck driver for SESCO. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the Army with the 32nd Infantry, and was awarded the Purple Heart. Jess is preceded in death by his parents, Jess C. Dalton and Ruth Marie Dalton, sister Mary Adell Trumble and nephew Jimmy Trumble. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth; children, Theron Dalton, Greg Dalton and wife Valerie, and Debbie Haire and husband Randall; grandchildren, Mike Dalton, Brian Dalton, Ted Dalton, Mandie Parmelly, Monica Dalton, Dianna Aufderheide and eight great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of San Angelo or another favorite charity.
