Jesus M. Esparza, 82, of San Angelo, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017 in a Lubbock hospital. Jesus was born on September 13, 1934 to Jose and Julia (Olivas) Esparza in Cuauhtemoc, Chihuahua, Mexico. On August 17, 1956, he married Rosa DeLeon in Lovington, NM. Jesus worked as a mechanic for Texas New Mexico Oklahoma Coaches which later became Greyhound Bus Line in Lubbock, from which he retired in 1989. He and Rosa moved to San Angelo in 1998, where they became involved in rental properties. Jesus liked to walk daily and loved taking care of his yards and properties. He was an avid animal lover. One of his favorite past times was watching old westerns and novelas. Jesus is survived by his loving spouse of 60 years; Rosa Esparza, two daughters, Teresa Tobias of San Angelo; Elsa Guevara of Lubbock; son, Johnny Esparza of Dallas; six brothers, Ernesto Esparza, Jose Esparza, Rosario Esparza, Rodolfo Esparza all of Mexico Osvaldo Esparza; Efren Esparza both of Crane, TX, ; four sisters, Teresa Esparza of Denver, CO Paula Esparza, Maria Esparza, Luisa Esparza all of Mexico; two grandsons, Jesse Tobias, Jr. of San Angelo, Michael A. Guevara of Lubbock; two granddaughters, Lisa Jimenez and Michelle Quiroz both of San Angelo; 8 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Jose Esparza and Julia (Olivas) Esparza. Vigil service will be held at 7pm on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass will be held 10am on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 301 W. 17th St., San Angelo, TX 76903, with Father Emilio Sosa, officiating. Burial will take place in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
