Jimmy Leroy Barnes, 73, of San Angelo passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.
Celebration of life services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Pastor Arnold Chisholm. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Mr. Barnes was born on March 5, 1949 in Victoria to Leroy and Hellen Witty Barnes. Jimmy was a truck driver for Trashaway Waste Management for 26 years. He had a big personality, enjoyed music in his truck, dancing, and racing his children; and beating them wearing his work boots. Jimmy was the life of the party, always making friends and family laugh and smile. If you knew him, you experienced and saw him being a selflessly giving person.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Phyllis Ann Barnes, Joyce Barnes; and Bertha Mae Barnes; and a brother, Edward Barnes.
Jimmy is survived by his four children, Hellen King and husband Reginald of Crowley, Jimmy Griffin and wife Samantha of San Angelo, Rochenda Barnes of Austin, and Jessica Barnes of San Angelo; a brother, Leroy Barnes, Jr. and wife Fay of Waco; 19 grandchildren, Louis Martin III, Joann Martin, Darius Miller, Aaron Griffin, Dominiqu Griffin, Don Fay, Jimisa McLean, Monte Beynum, Marcus Marshall, Quantia Gray, McKayle Griffin, Cameon Griffin, Jania Griffin, Jimmy Griffin, and Aryona Griffin, Terrell Allen, Avery McGee, Tesean Tate, and Aaseana Uneless; 20 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to Park Plaza Nursing and Rehab and St. Gabriel Hospice.
