Joe Michael Ash, 59, died early Thursday in a local hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at Fairmount Cemetery with the Rev. M.W. "Skip" Hill officiating and under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. Joe was born Jan. 18, 1945, in Anson to Ruth and Eris Ash and lived in Albany early in his life. A graduate of Central High School, he was a long-time resident of San Angelo and had a great love for this community, particularly the friends he made through church. Joe was a dedicated Christian and anyone who knew him could tell how much he loved Christ because that devotion was reflected in his way of life. He also loved music and worked to meld those two passions - his faith and his music. Late in life, Joe also found an enthusiasm for composing songs that honored his faith in the Lord. To have known Joe truly was a blessing, and we all will miss him very much. His father, Eris Lee Ash, preceded Joe in death. He is survived by his mother, Ellen Ruth Ash of San Angelo; two brothers, Lee Allen Ash and his wife, Rhuenell, of San Angelo, and Kenneth David Ash and his wife, Randelle, of Carrollton; a niece, Allyson Reynolds Dixon of San Angelo; a nephew, Edward Ash of San Marcos; and two great-nephews, Michael Dixon of Bedford and Eric Reynolds of Wichita, KS.
