On October 2, 2010, John P. Fillip made his final journey and crossed over to be with his lord and savior. He was born July 10, 1934, in Tom Green County to Eugene Fillip and Lula Michaelis Fillip. A catered visitation will be held Thursday, October 7, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Robert Massie Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will held Friday, October 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Chaplain J. T. Tucker officiating. He will be laid to rest in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. John was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Marvin Fillip and his sister Jean Lancaster. John lived his life in San Angelo except for the time he spent serving his country in the Air Force. When he returned to San Angelo he designed and began to build fiberglass sailboats. In July of 1959 he opened the Fillip Mfg. Co. The Co. was closed in 2005 due to his failing health. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in San Angelo, serving his Lord in many ways, the one he loved most was driving the Church bus picking people up taking them to hear the word of God. He drove the bus 34 yrs. He and his wife taught the first grade Sunday school class for 33 yrs. He also was a member of the East Angelo Lions Club having a perfect attendance until his health failed. His favorite project was cooking hamburgers for the Rodeo. Survivors include his wife, Pat the love of his life, sons Dennis Fillip and wife, Lisa, their daughters Catherine and Leslie of Georgetown, Tennis Fillip of Carlsbad, Bob Fillip and wife, Donna of Midland, daughters Sherry Young and husband, Ron and children Robin and Daniel of Slidell, LA., Brenda Hamner and husband, LeLand and children Laura Albert, her children Landon, Katilin, and Braydon, Brian, and Carol Stcyn, her son Redgy and his children Garrett and Gage. Pallbearers are David Calvert, Steve Calvert, Tommy Gatlin, Jim Estes, Wayne Ferrell, Homer Griffin, Jim Lee and James Varner.
