John W. Henson joined his wife, Mac, of 57 years and grandson, Mathew James Hohmann, in heaven on June 22, 2007. J.W. was born in Brownwood, TX on August 5, 1919 and moved to San Angelo with his family as a toddler. J.W. served as a walking definition of a sincerely caring man possessing a special ability to connect with young people. He was a local entrepreneur and finished his career at Angelo Pellets Feed Mill before retirement. At The Mill J.W. made sure his friends, our area ranchers, always had a hot lunch. J.W. was a creative man with a green thumb. During retirement he found great pleasure painting with his friend Alice. His paintings have become living treasures for all his friends and family. J.W. is survived by his son Ronnie Henson, daughter Karan Henson, grandchildren; Shan Henson, Jennifer McCarty, Daniel, Wade and Lacey Hohmann, Callie and Colby Latham, great grandchildren; Rowan Hohmann, Kailey and Trey McCarty, and best friend Tom Latham and wife Vickie. A private graveside service will be held on Monday, June 25, 2007, followed by a memorial service at First United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. The family extends special thanks to Hospice of San Angelo, the staff of Myrtlewood Estates, and especially Sylvia Haechton for her caring touch. Memorials in honor of J.W. should be made to First United Methodist Church or Hospice of San Angelo.
