John James Kalaitzes passed away December 7th in Little Elm, Texas at the age of 88 surrounded by his loving family and caregivers Maxine Crittendon and Shelly Landino two beautiful angels. Johnny was born in San Angelo, Texas September 9, 1929 to James and Efterpi Kalaitzes. He attended schools in San Angelo, Texas and Electronic school in Chicago, Illinois. He served in the National Guard for 10 years. He married Joann Constandine in Wichita Falls, Texas on June 2, 1957. They had two sons; Jim Kalaitzes and George Kalaitzes. Johnny worked from an early age to help support his mother and 2 siblings due to a tragic auto accident that claimed his father's life. He cut lawns. He worked at Harry's food store and in 1962 joined his brother in operating Highland Grocery which lasted 32 years. When he retired from the grocery business he accepted a position with Kraft Food and enjoyed this work for 10 years. He was a loyal and dedicated member of his church and was a board member from age 17. He continued to support his small church in any capacity he could. Johnny is survived by his loving wife Joann of 60 years. Sons Jim Kalaitzes. George Kalaitzes and his wife Yolanda. Step grandsons Danny Burton and Sean Burton. Step great granddaughters Kylie Gonzales and Trinity Burton. Sister, Stella Aspacia Alexander, brother in law Louis Constandine and wife Annette, sister in law Kim Peet. Becky Holder, Gia McAllister and Trisha Constandine his nieces and Leo Alexander and Dr. Gary Peet his nephews and John Kouvelis a special cousin. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother. Trisagion will be held at 6:00 pm on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral will be at 11:00 am Monday at Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church with Father Mark Lichtenstein and Father Jim Hademenos officiating. Interment will follow in Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Dr. Gary Peet, Todd McAllister, Peter Kouvelis, Chris Kouvelis, Tom Holley and Mathew McDaniel. Honorary pallbearers will be John Kouvelis, Dr. Marcus Young, Owen Bubba Harrison and Leo Alexander.
