John "Big John" Maberry

John Elliott Maberry "Big John", 81 of San Angelo, passed away on February 13, 2015 at a local care center. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2015, 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 11 A.M. Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Pastor John Pope Jr. officiating. Services are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. He was born on November 28, 1933 to Wylie Ausby and Minnie Maberry in San Saba. On October 13, 1956, he married Thelma in San Angelo. He spent his life taking care of his loving family and enjoyed his passion for entertaining audiences with his singing talents. John is survived by his loving spouse of 58 years, Thelma Maberry, daughters Delores Norton, Benita Maberry, and Debra Smith, son Eddie Pope and wife Elaine, all of San Angelo, sister Helen Maberry of Denver, CO, 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Henry Maberry, and sister Earlie Barnes. The family wishes to send their sincere thanks to the staffs of Senior Care of Meadow Creek and Shannon Medical Center.
