JOHN FREDERICK SCHRIEVER

John Schriever was born August 6, 1924, in Taylor, Texas. His parents were John F. Schriever and Minnie Schneemann Schriever. They moved to San Angelo when John was about three years old, and he attended San Angelo schools. He graduated from San Angelo High School, then attended Texas A&M University. He remained a staunch Aggie, and was proud that both sons received degrees from A&M. All four grandsons attended A&M, two of whom also received degrees from A&M. John served as president of the West Texas A&M Club in 1969. John married Rebecca Herman September 14, 1944, in San Angelo, and they have lived on their stock farm west of Eola since that time. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in San Angelo. In 1947 John became the adult leader for the Boys 4H Club at the Hess-Averitt School, located on the Schriever farm. When that school consolidated with Wall, he became a leader there and continued until both his sons had graduated from Wall. By that time he was the Chairman of the Tom Green County Junior Livestock Show, and served until he retired in 1995. John thoroughly enjoyed his association with the youth of Tom Green County and the people in the Extension Service. For over 50 years, John has been a member of San Angelo Lodge No. 570 A.F. Miles Masonic Lodge No. 898 A.F. San Angelo York Rite Bodies; and Suez Shrine. He was a Past Master of Miles Lodge No. 898 A.F. Past President of Concho Shrine Club; Director Emeritus of Suez Shrine Temple; and Past Worthy Patron of San Angelo Chapter No. 10, Order of the Eastern Star. He was also a member of the Lubbock Scottish Rite Bodies; Heart of Texas York Rite College; Llano Estacado Conclave of Red Cross of Constantine; Knight York Cross of Honor; Holy Royal Arch Knight Temple Priest; and Royal Order of Scotland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie and John Schriever, Sr., and one son, John George Schriever. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rebecca Schriever; son, Joe Schriever and his wife, Lesley, of Austin; daughter-in-law, Barbara Schriever of Abilene; son, Raj Cheruku of San Angelo; four grandsons: Mike Schriever of Wichita Falls; Doug Schriever and wife, Kelly, of San Antonio; David Lenihan, of Arlington; and Sean Lenihan, of Irving; and granddaughter Shikhi Cheruku, of San Angelo. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel, with Nelson Erwin, C.L.P. officiating, with Masonic Rites at the gravesite with James A. Scott officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Bunnell, Thomas Kelso III, Matthew Prosise, Herman McGill, John Begnaud, and Johnny Prosise. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Victor Schulze III and Dr. Carl D. Anderton.
