Joe "Che-Che" Luna Martinez, 88, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Shannon Medical Center. Rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 14, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Swamy Lakkineni, officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Joe was born on April 15, 1924 in Del Rio, Texas to Francisco and Ninfa Martinez. They moved to San Angelo in 1929. In 1942, he met his one and forever true love, Julia Holguin. They were married on August 27, 1944 and spent the next 68 years at each others side. Joe was a devoted and loving husband and provided a wonderful life and home for his family. He was employed by McIntyre's restaurant for 25 years and the owner of Joe's Little Kitchen for over 18 years. He is preceded in death by his parents; Francisco and Ninfa Martinez, his first born son; Joe John Martinez, brothers; Frank Martinez Jr., Cruz Martinez, and Moses Martinez and sisters; Lilly Valdez and Rosa Castañeda. Joe will be missed dearly by those he left behind. He is survived by his wife; Julia Martinez, daughter; Josie and husband, Eddie Heath, sons; Jesse Sr. and wife Jo Ann Martinez, Jeffery and wife Barbara Martinez, and Joe "Jody" Martinez Jr. all of San Angelo. Seven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren, brothers; Noe and wife, Lucinda Martinez of Mereta, Sam and wife, Elizabeth Martinez of San Angelo, sisters; Carolina Cantu of Orlando, Florida and Lionor and husband Juan Velez of San Angelo, numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Robert Torres Jr., Jesse Martinez Jr., Christopher Joe Martinez, Alfredo Hinojosa, Esidoro Holguin Jr., and Bernardo Martinez The family extends a special thank you to all the doctors and staff at Shannon Medical Center and especially Dr. DeMory and the nurses and staff at Shannon Dialysis Center. Almighty God, in your love and mercy turn the darkness of death into the dawn of a new and eternal life and the sorrow of parting into the joy of heaven through our Savior Jesus Christ who died and rose again and lives forever.....Amen
