Joseph Jerry Roseborrough, known as "Joe", passed away peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2009 in San Angelo, TX. He was surrounded by the love and presence of his wife and children. Joe was born on October 1, 1922 in Savonburg, Kansas to Joseph and Hazel Roseborrough. He grew up in Manhattan Beach and Hesperia, California. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for 4 years. After attending college for a year and working in the private sector for a few years, he joined the U.S. Army, where he served with honors until his retirement in 1966. During his military career, he received numerous medals and commendations, most notably The Soldiers Medal for Heroism. He married Margaret E. Boren on September 22, 1951, creating a family with his son Mike. Joe and "Maggie" were blessed with 4 more children: Annice, Karen, Linda and Tom. These 5 offspring produced 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Post-retirement, Joe created several successful businesses in El Paso, Texas: RMC Realty; Desert Oasis campground and mobile home park; and Atomik Kawasaki motorcycle shop. He and Maggie enjoyed living on rural acreage outside of Clint, TX. When he yet again retired, he and Maggie moved to Timberon, NM where he was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and later a Shriner. In Timberon, he literally wore many hats--he was a certified EMT, deputy, and volunteer fireman. He was a proud founding member of the Timberon Loafers' Club. Fourteen years ago, Joe and Maggie moved to San Angelo. Joe's commitment to service continued and he was a volunteer for CodeBlue and the Goodfellow AFB Pharmacy for several years. He made hand-painted wooden Santas, Snowmen and Bunnies which he donated to nursing homes, children's groups and friends and neighbors. As a result of his volunteerism, he received a Jefferson Award for Public Service. Joe is remembered for his generosity, his work ethic, his integrity and his wonderful sense of humor. He was the life of the party and entertained his family their whole lives with his jokes.
