JOYCE "MAMA" ARNOLD

Joyce "Mama" Arnold, 90, of San Angelo went to be with Our Heavenly Father on December 5, 2010. Family visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Robert Massie Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 11:00 A.M. December 11, 2010 at the Fairmount Cemetery with Buddy Trull officiating. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Elliott, Bruce Fletcher, Rodney Long, James Arnold, Max Havlak, Freddie Arnold, and Tommy Bryant. She was born on November 3, 1920 in Gorman, Texas to Aaron Bryant and Jessie Brannon. Mama worked for the US Government during World War II. She worked on the Norad Bomb Site which was a top secret project. She also worked in San Antonio, Big Springs and San Angelo. Mama had many talents. She was a singer in a quartet, played the harmonica, played softball, danced and was a great roller skater. Mama went back to school and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She worked in McCamey and Rankin hospitals for years before moving to San Angelo. After moving, she worked at the San Angelo State School in Carlsbad, Texas where she was a very caring and loving person. Mama joined the Rebekah Lodge # 169 in McCamey, Texas in 1955. She became a lifetime member after 50 years. She also became a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church of San Angelo. Mama had two brothers; Jasper Bryant and Connie Bryant, and one sister Claudia Bryant Cranford who preceded her in death, and grandson, Robert Bruce Cranford and one infant sister. Mama is survived by two sons, Mike "Stubby" Arnold of Midland, Texas and Aaron "Sonny"� Cranford and his wife Merilyn of Glen Rose, Texas. She had five grandchildren; Stacy Jo Shepherd and husband Jeff of Denton, Texas, Del Cranford of Grand Junction, Colorado; Russell Layne Cranford of Lily, Montana; Kelly Don Cranford of San Angelo and Amanda Dawn Arnold of Omaha, Nebraska.
