JOYCE HENSON

Joyce Marie Henson, 80 of San Angelo died Monday September 27, 2010 at an area hospital. Family Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday September 29, 2010 at the Robert Massie Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Thursday September 30, 2010 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. James Mitchell, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Joyce was born April 25, 1930 to William and Thelma (Brumley) Morphis in Megargel, Texas. She graduated high school at the age of 14 and was a clerical supervisor with Verizon directory company. Joyce met her husband, Thurman Henson while he worked for her father as a driller and was introduced by his sister. They married on October 2, 1950 in Hobbs N.M. Joyce was an accomplished bowler and won many state titles. In 1973 she was the Texas Women'™s Bowling Association open singles Champion. She was the league champion with the Women'™s International Bowling Congress for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother; Bob Morphis. Survivors include her husband, Thurman Lee Henson of San Angelo; son, Kim and wife, Becky Henson of Rockwall; grandson, James Henson of Dallas; two granddaughters, Sherry and husband, Mike Garvin of Forney and Abby Henson of San Marcos; and her neighbors and trusted friends, Wayne and Denise Click and their daughter Abbey
