Juan V. Acosta

Juan V. Acosta, 84 of Mertzon went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday September 18, 2013 at his residence. Rosary will be 7:00pm Sunday September 22, 2013 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Monday September 23, 2013 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Mertzon with Father Joseph Vathaloor, officiating. Burial will follow at Mertzon Cemetery. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Juan was born April 22, 1929 in La Hacienda, La Incada, San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Juan and Maria Santos (Velaszues) Acosta. He married Minerva Villarreal on October 25, 1955 in Ozona. Pallbearers will be Arthur Villarreal, Arnulfo Narvaez, John Aguilar, Raul Villarreal, Felipe De Hoyos Jr., Frank Gutierrez, Robert Ramirez and Roy Ramirez. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and a sister and a grandson; Abram Calderon Survivors include his wife of 57 years; Minerva V. Acosta of Mertzon, two daughters; Angelica Calderon and husband, Alvaro of San Angelo, Patricia Brown and husband, Maurice of San Antonio, three sons; Arnaldo Acosta and wife, Martha, Albert Acosta and wife, Maria and John Acosta and wife Jodi all of Mertzon, grandchildren; Aubrey Calderon, Gabriel Acosta, Casey Acosta, Joseph Padilla, Jonathon Padilla, Alexandria Padilla, Alexis Brown, Mia Brown and Naya Brown and four great grandchildren. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Norma Cerna and her nurses and staff at Shannon Clinic, Janice Douglas at San Angelo Home Health, Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Center in Austin for the excellent care shown to Juan and our family and a special thank you to the Irion county Volunteer EMS for their heroic effort.
