JUAN MARTINEZ

Juan Martinez, 83, of San Angelo passed away on March 12, 2007 at 3:45 PM in his home surrounded by his children. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with graveside services following at Fairmount Cemetery. Arrangements are made by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Juan was born June 23, 1923 in Oregano, Coah, Mexico, son of Felicitas Martinez. He moved to Acuna at age 14. He would later meet Juanita Sandoval there and married on April 17, 1951. They had three girls; Velia Martinez, Maria De La Luz Martinez, Yolanda Mendez; boys Jose Luis Martinez, Hervey Martinez and Juan R. Rodriguez. He began working in Texas in 1960. He moved his family to San Angelo from Mexico in 1972. He ran his own landscaping business for 18 years. He retired at the age of 75. He would go on to live his days at home surrounded by the love of his family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Felicitas; wife Juanita Sandoval Martinez; brother Augustin Torres Martinez; sister Concepcion Torres Martinez. He is survived by his children Juan R. Rodriguez of Eldorado, Texas; Velia Martinez, Jose L. Martinez, Maria De La Luz Martinez, Yolanda Martinez De Mendez all of San Angelo; Hervey Martinez of Tampa, Florida; sisters Anita Torres, Celia Lopez, Maria Torres, Estella Torres; brothers Celestino Huerta and Jose M. Mendoza; 17 grandchildren, Juan R. Rodriguez, Donnie Rodriguez, Manuel Rodriguez, Andres A. Gomez, Alvaro Gomez, Lucia Gomez, Joshua Martinez, Juan L. Martinez, Griselda Huerta, Mayra Martinez, Derek Gonzales, Jonathan Gonzales, Javier Mendez, Brian Mendez, Jessica Y. Mendez de Rodriguez, Monica Martinez, Angelica Martinez and 17 great-grandchildren. He will be remembered by his family as the dedicated loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and to his friends who called him "Don Juan".
