Julia Holguin Martinez 92, passed away peacefully at her home early in the morning on Saturday, August 28, 2021.
Mom was born April 15, 1929 in Knickerbocker, Tx. to Anselmo and Jesusita Holguin. Julia was a lifelong resident of San Angelo, Tx. She married her one and forever true love, Jose Martinez on August 27, 1944 and spent the next 68 years happily by his side. Julia was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was always welcoming and loved to serve others. She offered hospitality like no other. Mom knew the value of hard work from picking cotton in the cotton fields to being a seamstress and owning and operating Joe's Little Kitchen Restaurant with Dad for over 18 years. Mom devoted her life to taking care of her husband and her children, this, was her favorite job. Julia will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by those she leaves behind. She is survived by her daughter, Josie and husband Eddie Heath, two sons, Jesse Martinez Sr. and wife Jo Ann and Jeffery Martinez and wife Barbara; seven grandchildren, Mary Ellen Suarez, Robert "Bobby" Torres, Maricela Gomez, Laurie Ann Sanchez, Jesse Martinez Jr., Christopher Joe Martinez and Amanda Lynn Monsivias; 17 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Julia was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; two sons, Joe John Martinez and Joe" Jody" Martinez, Jr.; three brothers; and two sisters.
Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Wake Service with a Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM. Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 3, 2021 at St. Mary's catholic Church. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Robert Torres Jr., Jesse Martinez Jr., Christopher Joe Martinez, Iian Flores, Matthew Perez, and Esidoro Holguin.
The family extends a special thank you to Brother Jeffery and Barbara and to all the wonderful people who took care of our mother. Hospice of San Angelo, and Beatrice Martinez of Girling Home Health.
God, in your love and mercy turn the darkness of death into the dawn of a new and eternal life and the sorrow of parting into the joy of heaven, through our Savior Jesus Christ who died and rose again and lives forever...Amen.
