Julius "Slim" Joiner, 76, of San Angelo, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2013 in San Angelo. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with the Pastor Mills Caraway, officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. Julius "Slim" Joiner was born in Bethal, Texas to Willis Rowdy Joiner and Laverne King Joiner on June 26, 1937. He went to school at Paint Rock High School. He married Viola Lee Burkes Joiner on November 10, 1956 in San Angelo. He worked on a rig for Pool Well Service in 1956 where he worked his way up to regional manager for Pool till 1980. Then he was President and Owner for J&J Services for 30 years. He loved to go fishing and restore old mustangs in his free time. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather (Papa), uncle, friend and brother. He had a heart as a big as Texas. He was one of the most respected men in the oil industry and was known as Slim by all. Julius "Slim" Joiner was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jeff Joiner and his daughter Neva Ordiway. Julius "Slim" Joiner is survived by his wife Viola Lee Burkes Joiner, his children Kippy Joiner, Debra Fiveash, Jimmy Joiner, son-in- law Edward Ordiway, his brother and sisters Jimmie Joiner, Johnny Joiner, Martha Shiflet, Linda Bruton, Wanda Rock and Lloyd Joiner. His grandchildren Lee Ordiway, Kimberly Parsons, Tiffany Green, David Fiveash, Jeremy Joiner, Israel Joiner and Kasea Woodward and 12 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
