It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our mother, LaJuan Norris Joyce. Mama died at home on Monday, August 5, 2013. Viewing will be 10:00am to 8:00pm on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Robert Massie Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held 10:00am Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Cecil Bowery, officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Mama was born May 21, 1928 in Talpa, Texas to Ray Norris and Ima Rae Beaver Norris. She attended school in Talpa. LaJuan married Weldon Joyce, the love of her life, on July 4, 1946. She devoted her life to Daddy and her three daughters. Her artistic talent led her in many directions...from owning a flowers shop and a doll museum in Ft. Stockton to making beautiful quilts and porcelain dolls. She never tired of learning new ways to express her talent; at the young age of 81, Mama began making jewelry. She is preceded in death by Weldon her husband of 59 years, her parents; two sisters, Christine and Gay, two brothers; Sonny and Jack; and a very special friend, Nonabelle Ellefson. Mama is survived by three daughters; Linda Cole and husband, Gene; Sue Fletcher and husband, Tom; Jann Gresham and husband, Jim; three grandsons, Rusty Slayton and wife, Katrina; Micci Cole; Jimmy Slayton and wife, Heather; and three great grandchildren, Merrick, Macyn and Jax; numerous nieces and nephews; and two sisters in Christ, Verna Elkins and Lorean Jackson. Pallbearers will be Gene Cole, Micci Cole, Tom Fletcher, Jim Gresham, Rusty Slayton and Jimmy Slayton. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Odyssey Hospice Care of San Angelo, especially Dustin and Mary.
