LARRY WAYNE JOYCE

Larry Wayne Joyce, 62 of Big Lake, passed away on May 2, 2009. Larry was born on January 20, 1947 in McCamey, Texas to Jack Wayne Joyce and Billye Mayfield Joyce. He graduated from Reagan County High School and attended South Plains College. He married Cindy Moon Joyce on August 19, 1967. Larry was a Vietnam veteran serving with the 1st 69th Armor from 1969 to 1970. He worked for CP&L in Sabinal, Texas before returning to Big Lake where he worked for Marathon Oil Company as a foreman and retired after 28 years of service. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church and a member of Masonic Lodge # 1203. Larry will be remembered for his cheerful smile, loving personality and zest for life. He never met a stranger and loved all of his friends as family. Larry is preceded in death by his father; Jack Joyce. Survivors include his mother; Billye Joyce of Big Lake; daughter, Melissa Wood and her husband, Kelly of Midland; son, Jack Alan Joyce and wife, Christy of Big Lake, grandchildren; Haley and Reagan Wood of Midland and Sage Powell and Jett Joyce of Big Lake. He is also survived by his brother Hal Joyce and wife, Vicki of Big Lake and nieces, Laura Kohutek and husband, Jeremy of Dallas and Amy Joyce of Marble Falls. Pallbearers will be Tommy Holt, Heath Holt, Jerrod Holt, Mike Elkins, Steve Elkins and Rusty Adams. Honorary Pallbearers will be Oran Harkelroad, Tim Sellman, James Kessler, Del McCallister and Joe Carrasco. Memorial may be given to the Reagan County 4-H Club or youth organization of your choice. Family visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00PM Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the Robert Massie Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the Glen Rest Cemetery in Big Lake. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post # 253 of Big Lake.
