Lary Carpenter, 61, of San Angelo passed away on Monday October 17, 2011 surrounded by his loved ones. Viewing will be from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on Monday October 24, 2011 at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday October 25, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Eden with Pastor Bob Boyce officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Fairmount Cemetery. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Lary was born in Giessen, Germany to Henry C. and Elisabeth Carpenter. After graduating high school, he attended the University of Texas at El Paso. He then served his country proudly enlisting into the United States Air Force. After leaving the Air Force, he then went to the United States Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Prisons where he retired. He then went on to work for the Corrections Corporation of America in California City, California and then transferred to Eden, Texas where he was the Assistant Warden until his passing. Lary married Della Carpenter in 1972 and they shared 39 years of marriage together. He was a loving husband, father, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed and his memories will live on forever. Lary is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Klaus Krueger. Lary is survived by his wife, Della of San Angelo; son, Chris Carpenter of Oxford, Alabama; sister, Ursula Garrison of Austin, Texas; nephews, Blake Garrison of Austin, Texas; Ted Garrison of Austin, Texas; and Peter Krueger of Giessen, Germany and numerous cousins in Texas and in Germany.
