LaVerne Zuehlke of San Angelo passed away on December 3, 2019. LaVerne was born on February 21, 1921 in Miles Tx. to Walter James and Roxa Edith (Edwards) Newton. She married Marvin Otis Zuehlke on August 23, 1946 in the Miles Lutheran Church. She was employed in the home of Mr. & Mrs. Robert Gordon for 46 years and retired in 1988. The Gordon family enjoyed her excellent cooking skills. LaVerne is preceded in death by her parents and husband, who passed away March 28, 1985. Sisters, Margaret Vick, Lorene Heflin and Dorothy Gaines, and brothers; Claude Newton and Eugene Newton; nephew, Wayne Vick; nieces, Melba Preas, Virginia Briggs and Jeannie Pinto. She is survived by brother-in-law, J.R.Gaines; nephews, Calvin Vick, Roy Vick & wife Carolyn, Randy Gaines, Terry Gaines & wife Teresa, and Jimmy Newton; Nieces, Bernice Cahill, Fay Brosig & husband Stan, Roxie Cauley & husband Lehman, Glenna Heflin, Belinda Biddle & husband Richard, Dolores McNatt & husband Charles and Carolyn Newton. Numerous other grand nieces and grand nephews. Her loving neighbors; Margaret & Becky Rios and good friends Gordon & Margaret Emerson along with her church family at Trinity Lutheran. Public viewing will be 10:00am to 8:00pm, Friday, December 6, 2019 at Robert Massie Funeral Home, 402 Rio Concho Drive. With the family visitation on Friday, December 6, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Graveside services will be 10:00am, December 7, 2019 at the Miles Cemetery, in Miles, TX. With Rev. Allan Eckert of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Arrangements are made by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, 3536 Lutheran Way, San Angelo, 76904 or to the Knickerbocker Community Center, P.O.Box 111, Knickerbocker, Tx.76939.
