LEONA LELAND

Leona Leland, 90, of Eldorado, passed away on July 10, 2010 in Eldorado. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with the Reverend Steve Rowe of the First United Methodist Church of Eldorado officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Leona was born in Palestine, Texas to Earnest W. Grooms and Ruby B. Allmon on September 19, 1919. She married D. L. Leland on December 5, 1966 in El Paso, Texas. She was as a cosmetologist who taught Beauty College and owned three beauty salons. She also owned an art studio and taught art for many years. Leona was a past worthy matron and lifetime member of Eastern Star. She loved spending time with her family, traveling, and enjoyed square dancing for many years. Leona is preceded in death by husband D.L. Leland, two sisters and one brother. She is survived by son, Guy Rogers, Jr. of Eldorado; daughter Gloria Swift and husband Jerry of Eldorado; sister Lottie Jones of San Angelo; brother Lloyd Grooms and wife Ruby of Woodbridge, Virginia; grandchildren Jody Rodgers, Leslie Rogers, Tina Rogers, Mitzi (Mimi) Rogers Imboden, Todd Swift and wife Camille, Shanna Swift Greer and 12 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church of Eldorado, 15 North Divide Street, Eldorado, Texas 76936 and Meals on Wheels for the Elderly, 310 East Houston Harte Freeway, San Angelo, Texas 76903.
