Lewis was born in Apache, OK on April 1, 1934 to Walter and Vivian (Smith) Campbell. Lewis worked many years in transportation, owning two of his own trucks for hauling cattle. During his time hauling cattle he had the opportunity to meet several famous Country Western performers. Lewis then later became co-owner of L & H Transport with his best friend and companion, Lucille Chewning. L & H Transport is a medical transport service, which works closely with law enforcement, hospitals and funeral homes, where Lewis was always treated everyone with the utmost respect and dignity. To Lewis and Lucille the taking care of their precious cargo was more important than their own well being. Lewis in fact fell ill while about to go on another transport, he insisted that the transport be completed and honoring his wishes Lucille did complete the transport. Lewis never met a stranger; he would often enjoy visiting with those he would encounter on the job. Lewis was preceded by his parents and two brothers. Lewis is survived by his best friend and companion, Lucille Chewning of San Angelo; son, L. L. "Butch" Campbell of San Angelo; daughter, Tammy Royall and husband, Rick of Bronte; step-daughter, Lynn Parsch and Eric Sipes of San Angelo; brothers, Jesse L.
