Linda K. Rees, 68, of Big Lake, Texas, passed away Monday, February 28, 2022 in her home in Big Lake.
Public viewing will be from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM Thursday, March 3, 2022 with family visitation from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Burial will follow in Robert Lee Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Linda was born in San Angelo to Floyd and Alma Gene "Kayo" Higgins on October 1, 1953. She graduated from Lake View High School in 1972 and completed her bachelor's degree in English from Angelo State University in 1976. She later went on to complete her master's degree in Library Sciences from Texas Woman's University in 2009. She married the of her life, William "Bill" Rees, on April 1, 1978 in San Angelo, Texas. He passed away on March 11, 2016. Around Big Lake, Linda was known for many things including her kind demeanor, positive outlook on life, and her deep wish to help her community in any way she could. To serve her community, Linda became the Library Director in 1992 where she oversaw the modernization and expansion of the Reagan County Library until her retirement in 2017. She joined the hospital board for the Reagan Hospital District in 2010 and served as President for the past decade where she oversaw the building of a new hospital and was in the process of working to get the city a new fire station.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother and father, Kayo and Floyd Higgins; and her sister and brother-in-law Cindy and Ron Jetton.
Linda is survived by her son, Eric and wife Teresa of Lubbock; her granddaughter, Cecilia; her nephew, Justin Jetton and wife Kelsey of San Angelo; and her Aunt Anna Kosel and her husband Alden of Norwalk, Ohio. She is also survived by numerous cousins, many of which she considered to be her siblings, and two incredible co-workers Rosa Ramirez and Ana Ramirez.
