Lionila Urteago, 96, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family.
Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM Monday, January 3, 2022, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Prayer service will be at 6:00 PM Monday, January 3, 2022, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Nazareth Presbyterian Church, 313 W Ave N, with Pastor Beatrice Torres, officiating. Burial will follow at Farimount Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Mrs. Urteago was born January 16, 1925 in Del Rio to Isabel and Consepcion Jaso. She was a lifelong resident of San Angelo, moving to San Angelo when she was 6 years old. Lionila married Tony Urteago in 1955. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1991. She was a housekeeper for many families in San Angelo. Lionila was a member of Nazareth Presbyterian Church. She loved serving people and loved cooking.
Survivors include two daughters, Molly Owen and husband Roger, and Frances "Birdy"Dempsey and husband Thomas all of San Angelo; a son, Tony Urteago, Sr. and wife Diana of San Angelo; a sister, Eloisa Lucio of Brighton, Colorado; four grandchildren, Roger "Brandon" Owen, Andrew Owen, Tony Urteago, Jr., and Jason Urteago; seven great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Lionila was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Lupe Hernandez Martinez; 11 brothers, and sisters.
