Lisbeth Valis passed into her eternal home on May 12, 2015 at 11:05 pm. A lifelong San Angelo resident, Lisbeth loved people and loved life. She was more comfortable being called Mom by her devoted daughters, Mimi by the grandchildren she cherished, or Liz by her countless treasured friends. She loved being surrounded by family and friends while loving on them with her home cooking and genuine hospitality. Liz was born to Bernice and Clayburn Lindley in San Angelo on September 18, 1938. She married Maurice Valis September 9, 1955. Her focus for many years was raising three daughters. Along with being a homemaker, Liz worked for over a decade at Travis Elementary, officially as the school secretary, but always ready to serve in any capacity as needed. Maurice preceded Liz in death in 2005 after 49 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents Bernice and Winston Newberry and Clayburn Lindley, sister Claylia Stine, and granddaughter Julia Baker. Liz is survived by her brother Bob Lindley and wife Sylvia, brother-in-law Martin Valis and wife Lil, daughters Sherri Wolff, Kathy Williams, Cindy Rogers and husband Don, grandchildren Chelsea Durham, Whitney Sawyer, Craig Wolff, Tyler Rogers and Camron Wolff, four great-grandchildren, special friend Jim Prichard, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. Liz was a member of Lake View Bible Church. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, May 16 at Robert Massie Funeral Home, with graveside service to follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Garden. Visitation will be May 15 from 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Liz may be made to your favorite charity. "Your presence we miss, Your memories we treasure, Loving you always, Forgetting you never."
