Lola Parker, 95, passed away on April 9, 2022, at the age of 95 in Flower Mound.
She was born Lola Mae Hendrix in Hico on November 25, 1926, to Jefferson and Opal Hendrix. Lola grew up in Hico, graduating from Hico High School in 1943. She moved to Dallas with her best friend Joyce Parker in 1945. After the war, she met James Parker and they were married on February 8, 1947. Jim and Lola moved to San Angelo in 1957 and she lived there until 2017 at which time Lola moved to Rosewood Assisted Living in Flower Mound.
While in San Angelo, Lola was a long-time employee of General Telephone Company and subsequently retired from Verizon Communications in 1987. Jim and Lola were members of St. Luke United Methodist Church in San Angelo from 1957 until their respective deaths. Lola served on and chaired many committees and other functions while a member of the church, having been a charter member of the CIHU Sunday School Class and President of the for class for many years. She was also a charter member of the Concho Valley Telephone Pioneers Club which was a club for retirees of General Telephone/Verizon. She serviced on numerous committees and was president of the Pioneer Club for several years. Lola is preceded in death by her husband Jim of 58 years; her mother, Opal Sites; her father, Jefferson Hendrix; brother, Paul Hendrix; and sister-in-law Joyce Hitt and husband Woodrow.
Lola is survived by her sister, Opal Leonard and husband Marden of Tennessee; brother, Tom Sites of Virginia; daughter, Pixie Clark of Corinth; son, Rick Parker and wife Karen of Mansfield; grandson. Chris Clark of Houston; grandson, Clint Clark and wife Julie of Flower Mound; great grandchildren, Grayson Clark and Kailyn Clark of Flower Mound, Scott Clark, Hannah Clark, and Haley Clark all of Houston; nephew, Glenn Hitt of Duncanville; niece, Diane Patton and husband Ed of Richmond, Virginia; niece, Opal Marie Leonard of Dallas; and nephew Deyo Leonard and wife Valerie of Tennessee.
Funeral services are being handled by Robert Massie Funeral Home in San Angelo. Lola will be buried next to Jim at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo. Visitation will be at St. Luke United Methodist Church in San Angelo on Saturday, April 16, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Funeral service will be held immediately following visitation beginning at 11:00 AM officiated by Jim Clarke, a lifelong friend of the family.
