Lorene W. Michalopulos

Lorene W. Michalopulos was born on July 8, 1931 in San Angelo, Texas to William and Isabel Michalopulos and passed away March 6, 2012 in Dallas, Texas. After graduating from San Angelo High School, she earned her bachelor's degree at the University of Texas at Austin and received her master's degree from Columbia University in New York in music performance. After years of performing in operatic productions around the world, she became a professor at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where she enjoyed teaching vocal music for over 25 years. Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Michael Michalopulos, her brother in law, Stephen Johnson and nephew James S. Johnson. Lorene is survived by her sister, Helen M. Johnson, sister in law, Demetra C. Michalopulos, and her nieces and nephews that adored her. Funeral service will be 10:00 am Friday March 9, 2012 at Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in San Angelo. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home.
