Lucinda DeLaGarza Martinez, 77, of Mereta, was called to her eternal home Tuesday, September 27th, 2016. Rosary service will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Wall, TX with Father Joseph Choutapalli officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. Lucinda was born February 21, 1939, in Eden, to Manuel and Susana DeLaGarza. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Christine Garza, grandchildren, Cody Beard, Monica Martinez, Tracy Martinez, brother in laws, Jimmy Garcia, Hamp Norton, and nephew, Frankie Garza. Lucinda is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Noe L. Martinez, siblings, Mayo DeLaGarza and wife Sara, Erminia Garcia, Ermelinda Norton, all of Mereta, Cres DeLaGarza and wife Denise of Brazoria, TX, Her children, Rose Beard of Veribest, Bernardo Martinez and wife Wendy, Noemi Howard and husband Dennis, Manuel O. Martinez and wife Esmeralda, all of San Angelo. Step children, Noe T. Martinez and wife Kay, of Euless, Fernando Martinez and wife Lupe of San Angelo, Mario Martinez and wife Blanca of Laredo. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, whom she all loved dearly. Lucinda was a hardworking, tough as nails, stubborn minded country woman. Working from the time she could, chopping and picking Cotton all the way up to Peacock, TX on back home to Mereta and on down to Georgetown, TX. She married, raised 4 children, when her youngest began preschool, she began working for the Wall ISD cafeteria around 1980, after 25 yrs she retired, however, substituted up until last school year, 2015. She also worked at the family owned business, Noe's Cafe in Mereta, 20 yrs, where the communities of Mereta, Wall, Veribest, Miles, Eola and Rowena all gathered. Her interest included sewing, gardening, cooking, antiquing, garage sales, listening to her classic country and Spanish music, and serving and spending tons of time with her family, friends, and her cats, Smokey, Sabastion and Mia. Lucinda was a lifetime parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church in Mereta, where she served as a member of the Choir. She also helped many years at the annual St. Ambrose/Holy Family Parish Fall Festival. Lucinda will be dearly missed by all family and friends. The family wishes to thank Regency House, Kindred Hospice, Encompass Home Health, Visiting Angels, Dr. Grant and staff, Dr. Alcocer, Dr. Stephen Coates and countless friends whom we regard as family.
