She was the youngest of five children and attended school in Kerens. She attended Powell Baptist Church and was very proud to say that her father was a Deacon in the church.

She earned her Insurance Adjuster's License, specializing in Workers' Compensation claims. She later moved to Dallas where she worked for Union Standard. In the early 80's she moved to San Antonio. In San Antonio, she was Secretary/Treasurer of Jack Broome & Associates, an independent claims adjusting firm.
In 2000 Lynda moved to San Angelo to be near her family. She joined Trinity Lutheran Church and worked in the church office for a short time. For the past 2 ½ years, following the on-set of dementia, she was a resident at Bronte Health and Rehab Center where she enjoyed being pampered by their caring staff.
