Bertha Mabel Fowler Crumbley, age 101, currently of San Angelo, passed away on September 11, 2017, in San Angelo. Family visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Monday, September 18, 2017 at the Robert Massie Funeral Home, San Angelo, Texas. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM, September 19, 2017, at Robert Massie Funeral Home, with Mr. Kerry Peacock officiating. Burial service will follow at 4:30 PM, September 19, 2017, at the Marion Cemetery, Lohn, TX, Ranch Road #765. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Mabel was born in Wheeler, TX, to Frank and Edna Fowler on July 15, 1916. She went to school in Amarillo, TX, and graduated from Amarillo High School. She married Joseph Edward Crumbley on Christmas Eve, 1936, in San Diego, CA. She was always a mother first, then a career house wife, a small business mercantile owner in Fort Worth and Azle, TX, a rancher in Greenwood and Lingleville, TX, for several years, a self-taught artist in Alpine, TX, and lastly a retiree in Fredericksburg and San Angelo, TX. As a Christian all of her life, she was strongly involved in Baptist Church memberships in several locations, a sponsor of the Rio Grande River Ministry and a member of Harris Ave. Baptist Church, San Angelo, TX, where she taught Sunday school classes up into her mid-90s. As an artist in her 80s in Alpine, TX, she attended college level art classes at Sul Ross State University and received several local awards for her artistic efforts. Mabel is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Edward Crumbley. Mabel is survived by her son, her daughter in-law, one younger sister, two granddaughters, two great grandsons and several nieces and nephews. The Family is requesting that in lieu of flower donations, that memorial donations in the name of Mabel Crumbley be made to the Franklin Graham Evangelistic Association's Samaritan's Purse (for international relief, where most needed) at www.
