Madeline J. Bean, 82 of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Thursday March 28, 2013 at her residence. Viewing will be from 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday March 31, 2013 Funeral services will be 2:00pm Monday April 1, 2013 at St. Paul Presbyterian Church with Glenda Harbert and Tim Davenport-Herbst, officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Madeline was born December 9, 1930 in Miami, Arizona to Jesse E. and Vida Augusta (Mayben) Johnson. She was a portrait photographer and worked at Wallace Laboratories for much of her youth and later owned Wallace Studio for many years. Photography brought her together with the love of her life, Jim Bean Sr. They married in July 1976 in Guadalajara, Mexico. Together, they enjoyed traveling and hosting parties and barbecues for their many friends. She enjoyed painting and being at the center of family gatherings. Pallbearers will be John Decker, David Ortel, Ryan Kaufman, Eric Smith, Carl Martin and Jim McCutchen. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim N. Bean, sister Ophelia M. Helton, and brother Elgin C. Johnson. Survivors include sons John Decker and his wife Melanie, David Ortel; daughters Christa Martin and her husband Carl, Tammy Hanson; and step-sons Jim and Ted Bean, all of San Angelo; grandchildren, Ryan, Amy, Lily, Hope, David, Hannah, Summer and Nathaniel; 9 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be greatly missed by all, including her faithful companion dog, Wilson.
