Mae Ella Simmons Rector, 74, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021, in Midland.
Public viewing will be from 12:00 PM, noon, until 8:00 PM Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 12:00 PM, noon, December 17, 2021, at St. Paul Baptist Church with Rev. H. R. Green, pastor, officiating. Cremation will follow under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rector was born September 22, 1947 in Prescott, Arkansas to Thomas and Luella Simmons the fourth of eight children. Mae accepted Christ at an early age and united with Macedonia Baptist Church in Boughton, Arkansas. Mae attended McRae High School in Prescott and she graduated in 1965. Mae relocated to Long Beach, California and united with New Hope Baptist Church. Mae met and married James Scott. To this union two children were born, Kenneth Scott and Kelvin Scott. Later she married Morris Rector. Mae moved her church home to Christ Second Baptist Church in Long Beach until they relocated to San Angelo and united with St. Paul Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. H. R. Green.
Mae leaves to celebrate her home going, her sons, Kenneth Scott and wife Netta of Houston, and Kelvin Scott and wife Wendy of Odessa; three sisters, Merlon Jean Simmons-Butler and husband Robert of San Angelo, Linda Battle of Columbus, Nebraska, and Sharon McDonald and husband James of Perris, California; 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, an uncle, Artis Johnson of Auburn, California, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
