Margaret (Peggy) Wescott, 84, of San Angelo passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. Memorial services will be 2:00pm Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Celia Ellery, officiating. A casual gathering of friends and family will be held at the family lake home following services from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Peggy was born January 6, 1929 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Ralph Artis and Agnes Galbraith (Cameron) France. She attended Grand Rapids Junior College. She married Jack E. Wescott in Grand Rapids on September 10, 1949, and they shared 46 wonderful years together until his passing on August 7, 1995. Peggy worked as a medical lab technician at Midland Memorial Hospital and later was the lab manager for Martha Madsen, M.D., Pathologist, until her retirement and move to San Angelo in 1981. Peggy had a beautiful voice and was a faithful choir member at all of the churches she joined during her many family moves when her husband was recalled during the Korean War and later moves to Amarillo, Texas with Sinclair Oil & Gas and finally to Midland, Texas with Atlantic Richfield. Peggy was active with the Midland Theater. She loved the water and so enjoyed swimming, boating, fishing, and decorating the lake home she and Jack built in 1980. Peggy was a lovely and gracious hostess who shared her beautiful home with her family and friends. She loved animals, especially her two dogs, Chloe and Zoe, who were always cuddled in bed with her. Survivors include her son; Craig Wescott and wife Linda, three daughters; Holly Wescott, Pam Darby all of San Angelo and Julie Zapata and husband, Ray of Christoval, ten grandchildren; Erin Moody Pargas of Los Angeles, California, Adrian Moody Brassfield and husband, Robert of San Antonio, Cameron Wescott, Hayne Darby, Mary Darby Moore and husband, Josh, Christine Wescott, Sarah Darby, all of San Angelo, Ryan Zapata of San Antonio, Megan Zapata and Micaela Zapata, both of Christoval, three great granddaughters; Lauren and Ashtyn Brassfield, both of San Antonio and Gracelynn Kelley of San Angelo, a sister; Annette Vogelsang of Grand Rapids, Michigan, numerous nieces and nephews. To honor her memory, in lieu of flowers, each child has chosen a favorite charity and would like you to make donations to these: The Arthritis Foundation, Best Friends Animal Society, Meals for the Elderly and San Angelo Performing Arts Center Fund. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Mom's caregivers, Linda Wescott and Barbara Edmiston, and dear friends, Dory Robb, Pam Shurley, and Jay Amburgey, who made it possible to keep her home during her long, debilitating battle with rheumatoid arthritis. Thank you to Dr. Morton, Dr. Yost, Dr. Wilkinson, and San Angelo Community Medical Center for all the care they provided for many years. Thanks to Girling Hospice for the support they provided the last month of Mom's life. Lastly, thank you to our minister, Celia Ellery, who made several visits the past month to provide spiritual support.
