Maria was born August 19, 1937 in Goliad to Dionicio and Herminia Padron Garces. She worked throughout her life as an x-ray porter at Community Hospital and at St. John’s for many years.
She loved football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, they were her team! Maria loved exploring the world on cruise ships, drinking margaritas and oh how she loved to dance. She loved life in general.
If one thing could be said of Maria it would be that she loved her family fiercely. She was a caring and devoted individual that cherished time spent with them, especially her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also devoted to the Lord and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and two sisters-in law, Alvino (Inez) Garces and Alberto and (Eva) Garces and one sister and brother-in -law, Virginia (Benito) Garcia.
Maria is survived by her children; Hermenia Stokes (Thomas Densmore) of Dallas, Bobby Stokes (Narcy) of Bastrop, Marina Garcia (Martin Beltran) of San Angelo, Corina May of San Angelo and Nancy Clark of San Angelo; seven grandchildren, Stephen Stokes, Bryan Stokes, Jeremy Sanchez, Meagan Doyle, Chelsea May, Harland May and Andrew Garcia; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, family members, friends and coworkers.
The family would like to acknowledge those who so thoughtfully cared for Maria, Dr. Moses Adarante, Dr. Linda Hitchcock and her nurses Frankie, Makayla and Nathan of Shannon six south.
