She was also predeceased by her brother and sister. Mrs. Brooks was born in Granger, TX, to Grover Cleveland Allison, Sr. & Evie Lena Hill Allison on March 20, 1920. She spent all of her school years in Robstown, TX, & graduated from Robstown High School in 1937. She attended Texas Women'™s College in Denton for one year, and then attended Durham'™s Business School in Corpus Christi, before marrying Lewis Brooks in 1940. The couple lived in Corpus Christi and Refugio, Tx most of their married lives, where Mr. Brooks was employed by Humble Pipe Line Company,(now Exxon), for 41 years. In 1986 they moved to San Angelo for the rest of their retirement years. Mrs. Brooks was a Life Member of the Driscoll Children'™s Hospital Auxiliary in Corpus Christi; for over 17 years, she served many offices and worked in her favorite area, the Hospital Gift Shop. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Her family honors her by saying that she was a most loving and wonderful homemaker & mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and gave of herself daily for all of us. She was an expert seamstress and we have memories of all the beautiful clothes she made for us. We will sorely miss her and will always remember the fine examples she set for us. Mrs. Brooks was chronically ill for many years, and we thank Dr. Anderton and his caring staff for all their medical care and help. We also thank Hospice of San Angelo and Concho Valley HealthCare for their wonderful medical care and support during her last weeks. Most of all, we wish to express our deepest gratitude for all the wonderful staff from Angelo Healthcare Service who, for over nine years, gave her excellent care and love. Our mother considered all of you part of her family; because of you, both our mother and we, her family, have been very blessed. We cannot thank you enough for all the special things that each of you individually did for her '" the special grooming, special meals, and the special nursing care she received, plus all the fun times you made for her. We also thank the homebound ministry of First Baptist, who visited her regularly, and brightened her days immensely by being there for her. Graveside services will be at 2:00pm Thursday, April2, 2009 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to the Children'™s Heart Institute of South Texas; c/o Driscoll Children'™s Hospital; 3533 W. Alameda; Corpus Christi, TX 78411.
