Mark Steven Brown

Mark Steven Brown passed from our earthly home into our Lord's arms Oct. 26, 2016, while setting up for a training class that he loved to do. Mark was a very devoted Christian husband, father, brother, friend, pilot and teacher. He was born in Lubbock, Texas, Sept. 18, 1954, to Elizabeth (Betty) and Robert (Bob) Brown. He enjoyed going back in August to find places where he was born, lived as an infant and managed a drive-in movie theater after college graduation. Mark was a member of the San Angelo First Assembly of God Church on Edmund Boulevard. He taught JAMS classes (Jesus and me) to children ages four to six years old for many years. He was thrilled when the children accepted Jesus as their savior. It also excited him when the children got older and gave him hugs and told him what was going on in their lives. Continuing education was Marks passion. He was a Central High School graduate class of 1973. Where he was one day short of 12 years perfect attendance. He was also Angelo State University BBA graduate 1977 and a BBA Finance in 1979. He enjoyed college life as a Delta Sig Fraternity member. He later received his series 7 license for stocks and bonds broker and insurance licenses. He also followed in his brother's footsteps working in high school in the movie theater business from security to management roles of the Texas, Sherwood Way, Village, and drive inn movie theaters in San Angelo and Lubbock. His passion was teaching and later in his life he taught TABC (Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission) training courses, First Aid/CPR courses, and CHL (Concealed Handgun Classes) in our Practical Training School on Howard Street. He saved many lives and wanted to be a positive person for our community. As a person with a generous heart to his fellow man and to the San Angelo Community he was honored to have more than 15 years of perfect attendance with the San Angelo Westside Rotary Club, where he worked to become president. He later volunteered as a Lion and was a charter member of the Concho Valley Law Enforcement Lions Club in 2011 and also the Eastside Lions Club. He served as District 2-A1 Alert Chairman for several years. Mark and his wife were honored with a Lions International Presidential Award in 2012 in the district winter conference. He served on the Eastside Lions Club board until his passing. A devoted family man, Mark is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, whom he called his "bride", Carole Anne Cavallero-Brown; precious step-children, Said Lee Pierce-Brown, that he raised from a year old, the light of his world, of Manassas, Virginia, Heidi Lucia Sadie Garza-Bunkua and husband Tom; and their two sons Kenneth and Kyle of Stone Ridge, Virginia, Michele Rene Garza- Burgman and husband Isaac and their daughter Gabriella and son Isaiah of Stone Ridge, Virginia, Victoria Lee Garza-Hobgood and husband Ben and their two sons Nicholas and Ryan of Sterling, Virginia and Robert Molina and wife Juliette of Dallas. He is also survived by his brothers, Daniel Brown and wife Anita and their children Audress, Lisa, and Phillip of San Angel and Paul Brown and wife Ginger of San Angelo and children Sarah Brown-Brewer and husband Josh, Jeremy and wife Laura, and Justin Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins from Indiana, Illinois and Nevada who he enjoyed pulling pranks with. As a long time, teacher, his wishes were to continue giving and teaching and did this in life as well as death. He chose to donate his corneas to the San Angelo Lions Eye Bank and his body to the Texas Tech Willed Body Program for teaching and research. The family would like to thank Shannon Cardiologist Dr. Samia Benslimane, and Community Cardiologist Dr. Michael Blanc and his Shannon diabetic Dr. Chadi Richeh for giving Mark quality care throughout his years. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to San Angelo Lions Eye Bank or San Angelo Lions Charities.
