Mark Leroy Gregory, 56 of San Angelo, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016 at his residence. Memorial service will be 2 PM Monday, Feb. 15, 2016 at Baptist Retirement Community Chapel. Mark was born on September 23, 1959 in Kirksville, Missouri to Laverne and Betty (Goad) Gregory. He was taken to Costa Rica at five weeks of age by his parents, who were Southern Baptist Missionaries. Mark attended Methodist Primary School and Country Day School in San Jose. The family, now with his brother David, moved to Mexico City in 1975. Mark graduated from American High School in 1977 and was voted a most outstanding student of his class. Mark returned to Kirksville and attended Truman State University. Law enforcement was his passion. He served as a Sheriff's Deputy and City Policeman in Missouri. Mark later relocated to El Paso and managed 7/11 Stores and taught in a Security Academy. Then he drove eighteen wheelers for J.B. Hunt and CFI, which took him from coast-to-coast and to Canada. He traveled all fifty states except for North and South Dakota. He came to San Angelo in 1998 and lived with his parents at Baptist Memorial Retirement Community. He was active in REACT, worked in security at Sitel, was an election judge, and was a member of the San Angelo Cowboy Church. Mark and his father were greatly interested in all sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. He and his mother were always in discussions concerning food and their preparations, along with their interest in animals. Mark is survived by his parents Laverne and Betty Gregory of San Angelo, his brother David and wife Merri Lynn, and their children, Brylee, Brighton, and Braden, all of Opelika, AL, and many cousins and friends.
