Mary Sue "Sudy" Cowden Craig, 88 of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Wednesday March 27, 2013 at her residence. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00am Monday April 1, 2013 at the Mt. Carmel Hermitage Monastery in Christoval with Father Fabian Rosette, officiating. Burial will be 3:00pm Monday April 1, 2013 at Fairview Cemetery in Midland, TX., with Pastor Harold Watkins, of Freedom Fellowship, officiating. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Sudy was born July 15, 1924 in Midland to John Ellis and Maidee (Taylor) Cowden. The Cowden's were one of the founding families of Midland and the surrounding area; she carried the pioneer spirit and forward vision throughout her life. Sudy was the first President of the Odessa Junior League, a past president of the Crystal Ball Foundation benefiting WTRH in Odessa, known nationwide for her work in Alcoholics Anonymous; she sponsored an IDF unit in Israel, plus was a supporter of many Jewish and Christian causes particularly the Mt Carmel Hermitage Monastery in Christoval. She was a member of the Heritage Foundation and the NRA. She loved her cats, Turtle, Patchouli, and even wild Springer. She supported animal causes like the SPCA and the Humane Society. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister; Eddie Blanche Smith and the father of her children, Berkley Gordon Craig Jr. Survivors include her daughter; Caron Craig Ducote of San Angelo; her son, Berkley Gordon Craig the 3rd and wife, Mabel of Odessa; grandchildren; Ceyork Trazmond Ducote the 3rd, and his daughter, Arwyn Rome Ducote; Berkely Gordon Craig the 4th; Jeremy David Craig and wife, Erica; Makenzie Soleil Craig and other grandchildren, Justin, Tyler and Krystal, numerous nieces, their families and cousins. The family wishes to thank people who cared for her; Delilah Perez, Patricia, Peggy, Marisol and the two Loriann's.
