Mary Jewel Holmes Hartman was born on July 9, 1924 in Hanna, Oklahoma to Oda and Milton Holmes. She was truly a "Jewel" to her family. Mary was the fourth child of their seven children, she attended school in Hanna. During WWII, she was employed at the ship yard in Bremerton, Washington where she met Euell G. Hartman, they were soon married on July 7, 1943. The couple had five children together and were married for 62 years. Mary is survived by her children: Cathy and husband Sam Carter from Miles; Sandi and husband Anthony Strawn from Coleman; Lester and wife Joni Hartman from Sweetwater; Gary and wife Raydean Hartman also from Sweetwater and Ronnie and wife Debbie Hartman from San Angelo. Mary has 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Bill Holmes and his wife Annette, and her sister Doris Youngblood as well as many numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, two grandsons, a brother and three sisters. Mary loved her family, friends, gardening, fishing and cooking. She taught her grandchildren to do all the things she loved to do including their favorite activity making pizza. Her family wishes to express their gratitude to Meadow Creek Nursing Center and Kindred Hospice for their sweet loving care. Viewing will be 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 9 at the Robert Massie Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Harriett Community Cemetery.
