Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 1, 2006 at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Hal Walton officiating. Arrangements are made by Robert Massie Funeral Home. She was born May 1, 1912 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Andrew M. Oliphant and Ida Ruth Nelson Oliphant. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a business woman all of her life, and her career included secretary to the manger of WFAA Radio and TV and Dallas Morning News in the 40's and 50-‘s until she married Clifford B. Sturgeon of Stanton, California in October of 1955. Together they worked and managed Orange County Ceramic Tile in Huntington Beach, California. She lived in Stanton, participating vigorously in community and church activities for more than forty years. In 1997, she came to San Angelo, Texas to live with her daughter. She was a voracious reader and had a lively interest in science as well as many mother subjects. She was an accomplished pianist, and skilled with all business machines. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clifford Sturgeon and, by her son Charles Roy Chandler of San Jose, California. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Michael Walton, of San Angelo and her son Patrick Oliphant Mobley of Irvine, California, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. She is in a better place, but will be sorely missed.
